Unit 8: Causes of Change (Energy)
Key Learning Targets
(8.01) I can define energy and some of the common ways in which energy is stored. (8.02) I can use words, diagrams, and bar graphs to represent the ways in which energy is stored and transferred within and outside of a system. (8.03) I can identify when the total energy of a system is changing or not changing, and I can identify the reason for the change. (8.04) I can use various energy models (K, Ug, Us, Eth) to calculate amounts of energy being stored. (8.05) I can make predictions and solve problems using the law of conservation of energy and energy transfer model. Additional Assistance Conservation of Energy Videos Walter Lewin from MIT- For the Love of Physics excerpt Richard Feynman Conservation of Energy Lecture (7 min audio) Use this worksheet to help take notes and check for understanding Video of Feynman's Lecture Physics Classroom Tutorials Work, Energy, and Power- these tutorials introduce this unit opposite of the way we will cover it in class and in a different manner than we will cover these topics. We will eventually do everything found in these tutorials (most of it at least) just not in the same order. |
